Leeds United face Serie A side Atalanta in what will be their most challenging pre-season fixture. Coming off the back of a somewhat disappointing 2-1 loss to League One side Peterborough, United will have to up their game somewhat against a side that finished mid-table in last season’s top tier of Italian football.
Atalanta’s last game was a 6-0 drubbing of Swiss second tier side Chiasso, a result that may give fans, players and coaching staff something to think about as Saturday approaches. There is little doubt that Leeds’ opponents will be taking this game seriously and that they will be bringing a large, strong side over in what is likely to be a competitive fixture for both sides.
Leeds fans will be looking for the first half intensity and dominance from the Peterborough game to be more sustained and to last into and throughout the second half, creating a ‘full 90’ game. The fixture will be the first chance that fans get to see the Whites in action at Elland Road and playing in the 2016/17 home kit.
Here head coach Garry Monk and players Kemar Roofe and Ronaldo Vieira look forward to Saturday’s game at Elland Road.
