It emerged earlier today that Charlie Taylor had handed in a transfer request to the club. This request has been dismissed by the club.

One of the first to break the news that Taylor wanted out from Elland Road was Radio Yorkshire’s journalist and presenter Joe Rawson in an announcement on his personal Twitter feed (below).

Leeds fans have been bracing themselves against the likelihood that Taylor submitting a transfer request/asking to leave the club would happen. However, Leeds United have refused to grant the transfer request, knocking it back at the first opportunity. This has been done via a statement on the club website that reads in full:

Further to recent speculation regarding Charlie Taylor, the Club can confirm that a transfer request from Charlie was received over the weekend.

Garry Monk and Club President Massimo Cellino agreed at the start of the transfer window that Charlie would not be sold and, therefore, the transfer request has been formally rejected.

The Club has every confidence that Charlie will continue to conduct himself properly and play his part this season as the Club pushes towards the top of the Championship.

The Club will not make any further statement on this matter.”
