Iconic Leeds United figure Vinnie Jones has spoken out on the current situation at Leeds United. Jones is a legend at Leeds and is probably one of the most iconic figures in football. The hard-man has returned to Leeds on a few occasions over the years, playing in a testimonial and then arriving a couple of years ago to sing Marching On Together to the Elland Road crowd.
This is what he had to say on TalkSport…
“I said at the time that Garry Monk was a great move for Leeds United.
“He is going to organise that place and, as long as they don’t interfere upstairs, Garry will get it right.
“I have still got some very, very good friends up at Leeds and I speak to them very often. I won the league up there and it is the best place to be on the planet when things are going well and you have that full crowd.
“The fans were second to none. That was 1990 I was up there and the people still adore me as if I was there last week.”
This is probably testament to what many inside and outside of the club think. Garry Monk was a huge appointment for the club and given time I believe he will achieve success at the club. He’s already improved the performances and style of play in a short space of time. Along with that he has attracted a much higher calibre of player. The future under Monk is certainly exciting, starting at Derby next week.
