Pontus Jansson told us all what we wanted to hear yesterday in a live Facebook chat yesterday. When asked, “Do you want to stay on a permanent basis?” he replied, “yes of course, I think the clubs are already in talks to do the deal and if the fans want me and the club then I want to stay.” Bingo!
We have had snippets of interviews from Jansson’s native Sweden during the last international break. The indication was that he wanted to stay at Leeds beyond the end of the season but for the first time yesterday the new Leeds United hero said it out loud and didn’t pack any punches. This will come as music to Leeds United fans ears, certainly mine and probably to the clubs after such a wonderful start to his career at Elland Road.
The fact that he said that the clubs are already in talks to try to get the deal done is a major is a boost in its own right. The fee is believed to be around £3.5 million which is a bargain in today’s market. I can’t express how much I believe he has helped change the dynamic and fortunes of this team and he is crucial to the future success of the side.
If we can get the deal done in January it would be such a great boost to everyone at the club. Fingers crossed.
