It’s the news we didn’t want to hear. Pablo Hernandez won’t be fit for another three weeks after picking up a hamstring injury before the international break at Norwich. Garry Monk today confirmed that Hernandez will be missing for key fixtures that include Rotherham, Liverpool and Aston Villa.
Hernandez had a slow start to Leeds life before coming into his own with the change of formation. His first goal came away at Cardiff in a 0-2 win, a stunning effort that sealed the game late on. A few weeks later he latched onto a Eunan O’Kane ball to sweep home the second and eventual winner against Barnsley.
The news isn’t good but as Monk said, “that’s football”. Chris Wood’s hamstring injury was an example of what can go wrong if not rested properly, nearly three months out last season. Hopefully we can get him back and firing then sign him up in January when his loan deal is due to expire.
