Garry Monk is sticking by his original assessment that his side could do with one or two more players ahead of the transfer deadline next week. He spoke ahead of our game against Nottingham Forest tomorrow night and is hopeful deals can be done.

It is obvious we lack options up front, the in-form Chris Wood has been wonderful so far this season but apart from him we have the likes of Pablo Hernandez, Bartley and Doukara all on three goals for the season. Antonsson has a couple of goals but really isn’t in the plans at the moment. That was evident as we trailed against Barnsley and needed a goal and Antonsson wasn’t even brought off the bench.

Monk has always said he doesn’t want many signings just a couple to help the squad along. Ashley Fletcher and Sergi Canos have been linked strongly with the club but nothing has really come of the links. Canos is reportedly valued at £2.5 million and Fletcher would probably be a loan deal if Leeds wanted him.

One thing is for sure that after tomorrow night Leeds will be able to purchase Pontus Jansson at around £3.5 million which we already know is a steal for the player. The deals for Kyle Bartley and Hadi Sacko look like they will wait until summer but I think everyone is wanting this Pontus Jansson deal to be done as soon as possible.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
