There have been some quality performances on a consistent level for Leeds United this season, more than any other for years. There are plenty who have a case to be in the team of the season and Garry Monk certainly has a case to be the manager of the season, but he was behind David Wagner in the queue. Chris Wood and Pontus Jansson were behind nobody in the queue, and have made the XI.
EFL Championship Team Of The Season
Smith (Huddersfield) Dunk (Brighton) Jansson (Leeds) Fredricks (Fulham)
Mooy (Huddersfield) Shelvy (Newcastle) Knockaert (Brighton)
Gayle (Newcastle) Wood (Leeds) Murray (Brighton)
It’s hard to argue with most of the side. Stockdale has been brilliant as has Lewis Dunk, Anthony Knockaert and Glenn Murray for Brighton, although Saturday they were outplayed by the Leeds side. Tommy Smith has had a very good season at Huddersfield as has Aaron Mooy, who has been the pick of the players on an opposition team to come to Elland Road, do I like him? Not one bit but you can’t deny his ability. Dwight Gayle has fired Newcastle to the top and that leaves our two, Pontus Jansson and Chris Wood. Both have been unbelievable this season, and Fulham left back Ryan Fredricks.
