According to the Daily Express Sport and Football Insider, Everton are planning a £15million move for Leeds United and Championship top goalscorer Chris Wood.

Wood has found the net 24 times so far this season, which has alerted the Premier League side as they begin to plan for next season. Everton striker Enner Valencia is expected to return to his parent club West Ham at the end of the season once his loan expires, and out of contract Arouna Kone is also expected to leave the Blues at the end of the term. This will result in The Toffees light in attack, and Wood may be the back up striker that Everton are after; to accompany their top scorer and contact rebel Romelu Lukaku. If Leeds fail to reach the top flight this term The Whites may struggle to keep hold of the Kiwi, with many other clubs surely keeping tabs on the 25 year old.

Wood, the top scorer in the Championship with three more goals than second placed Dwight Gayle of Newcastle United, joined United from Leicester at the beginning of the 2015/16 season for a reported £3million; after the club fought off competition from several Championship clubs for his signature. During his time in Yorkshire, the New Zealander has played 72 games scoring 37 times; resulting in an average of a goal every other game. However, during his time at Leeds and especially at the beginning of the season, supporters have been quick to get on the New Zealand international’s back after maybe not living up to expectation during the early stages of his Leeds career, but it seems that Wood has found his form and is proving his previous doubters wrong.

Wood had some occasional chances to perform in the Premier League when at Leicester, however failed to make an impact, but now in fine form is he ready to take the next step up from the Championship with either Leeds or Everton?
