He’s back and the panic is over. Pontus Jansson has returned to the Leeds United starting line up tonight and takes his place alongside Kyle Bartley in the heart of the defence in a crucial spell for the club.

The rumours have been surfacing recently about a potential issue with Jansson and Monk but tonight sees him back in the side when (if there was a serious issue) could have been resolved by putting Ayling in for Liam Cooper. The Scottish international faces a lengthy ban after a stamp on Reece Oxford, which in all honesty didn’t look good at all. Berardi switches to left back and the one to miss out is Charlie Taylor.

In front of them comes more changes, Kalvin Phillips who has been knocking on the door replaces Ronaldo Vieira who didn’t have his best game on Saturday but is probably in need of a rest. Two surprise inclusions on the wing are Mo Barrow who gets his first Leeds start and Stuart Dallas who returns to the club where he made his name. With Jansson back and the new players in it means competition is hot again and players will be keen to impress when given the chance.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
