No more football at Elland Road until next season but what a way to sign off for the side. In a bizarre encounter we saw the poor side of Leeds United and the brilliant side of Leeds United. A game where two sides gave it their all and ended up being one of the games of the season, it was just not enough for Leeds who have collapsed in the run-in.
The game started quite even, neither side looking like they were going to take charge of the game. Dorrans sat deep and dictated the pace of the game as Leeds looked to hit on the counter attack. Pablo Hernandez frustrated with his passing and Leeds shook as Stevie Naismith smashed one past Green from 25 yards. Not long after the Leeds back line were turned inside out and Nelson Oliviera converted a cross. The Portuguese forward, a regular tormentor of Leeds United then gave Jansson the run around before bending another peach into the far corner, game over then. Not so fast, Chris Wood notched his 29th of the season and the next goal was crucial.
Not long after the break Bartley scrambled home and Andrea Radrizzani and his guests saw what Elland Road can really be like if we are given a team we back. The ball was being sucked towards the Kop and eventually Pablo Hernandez got the third, a free-kick won by a rampaging Gaetano Berardi. We were three at the back towards the end and a couple of half chances came and went, Brentford did their bit but we couldn’t, and the curtain comes down at Elland Road, a place where Leeds United win games again after a very productive campaign under Garry Monk and his staff.
Man of the Match – Ronaldo Vieira – The midfielder worked between the classy Norwich midfield which included Alex Pritchard, Stevie Naismith and Jonny Howson. Solid in tackles and on the end of a horror tackle from Naismith.
Green – 8 – Had a good game, and a brilliant season. Gave the South Stand the Leeds salute towards the end.
Ayling – 5 – Struggled again and has maybe juts ran out of steam after a great season.
Bartley – 6 – Began to get to grips as the game went on but between him and Jansson couldn’t handle Oliviera.
Jansson – 6 – Same as Bartley, but got turned around for third goal.
Berardi – 7 – One of the best on the park, tucked in well too.
Vieira – 7 – Worked so hard for the team, powerful and driving force in the second half.
O’Kane – 7 – Thought he was very good on the day, makes you ask why he hasn’t been playing.
Roofe – 6 – Struggled to stay on his feet, decent first season but needs to be more effective next.
Hernandez – 5 – One free kick shouldn’t mask his performance.
Dallas – 6 – Had moments and good cross for Wood but overall just an average game.
Wood – 7 – Worked hard and scored a good goal. 30 next week would be great.
Pedraza – 6
Doukara – 6
Phillips – 5
