Ex-Deportivo head-coach Victor Sanchez is now the favourite for the Leeds United job after a weekend where Andrea Radrizzani was apparently set for more talks with potential head-coaches. Nobody has confirmed that Sanchez was on the list yet but he has come from nowhere which seems odd.
Sanchez spent last season in charge and Real Betis in La Liga and led them to a bottom half finish. He has also been in charge at Deportivo and a very short spell in Greece before being sacked at Olympiacos. He played for Real Madrid after working his way through the youth system and has been assistant manager of Getafe, Sevilla and Olypiacos. His win ratio leaves much to the imagination but in all honesty I don’t know enough about him to comment on what he is like.
Andrea Radrizzani now has Angus Kinnear and Victor Orta working alongside him at the football club and has well connected Ivan Bravo on the board. The Spanish connection is growing at the club and with Pep Clotet not joining Middlesbrough with Garry Monk it seems he will maybe be the number two to whoever does eventually get the job. Time is ticking and with the players due to return in less than two weeks something has to be sorted this week.
