Goalkeeper, Leeds fan and apparent Leeds target David Stockdale has today tied up his future and I don’t think anyone saw his next move coming. The goalkeeper has joined Birmingham and Harry Redknapp ahead of pre-season.

There was much talk about the possible interest in life-long Leeds United fan David Stockdale. His family and him are from Leeds and much was said about the potential signing of the Brighton goalkeeper this summer with his contract running out. As it was he has now signed with Birmingham City which does come as a shock really. Brighton wanted to keep him as they went up to the Premier League but he turned down the new deal and has decided to stay at this level.

Stockdale still has some very good years in him and is probably in his prime currently. He was voted the best goalkeeper in the league last season and that was hard to argue with. He is active on social media and has taken a lot of criticism from some sections of the Brighton fan base for not staying at the club. He is sure to make an impact at Birmingham City under Harry Redknapp. There is no doubt that he will be a success at the club.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
