Some good news this week, well some news this week at all would be good! As it is today we have finally had the conclusion to the Jansson/Leeds/Torino/FIFA saga. Matter resolved.
Jansson made it quite clear in the last week that he will be returning to Leeds next season and the bargain £3.5 million deal will go ahead. The confusion and tug of war started just before Andrea Radrizzani took full control of the club over an issue with when Leeds were to pay the first instalment of the Jansson deal. The club had taken up the option to sign the Swedish international in February with him officially starting his contract on July 1st.
Torino felt Leeds should have paid sooner and FIFA were called in to look into the matter. Radrizzani didn’t mess about with this one and was quick to pay the instalment and hush Torino. A month later and FIFA have confirmed that the matter is closed and Jansson will become a Leeds United player in two weeks. Hopefully some more good news this week with the announcement of a head-coach but that depends on who that head-coach is as well. Jansson will certainly be playing for the new man come pre-season.
