News has been revealed today via the agent of highly rated Spanish midfielder that Leeds United are indeed in a bid to sign the player. Phil Hay of the Yorkshire Evening Post confirmed earlier that the player’s agent had told them he was open to a move to England, and Leeds are one of the potential clubs he could sign for.
“Samuel has firm interest from Leeds United and also other Premier League clubs in Spain.” He also confirmed Saiz was open to a move to England according to Hay. The link tom Samu Saiz was made known earlier this week from Spain but it seemed like Leeds may have missed the boat with Eibar the firm favourites to get the signature of one of the best players in the second tier of Spanish football. However that move hasn’t happened yet and Leeds have apparently increased their bid to secure the signature of the player.
Saiz started his career at Real Madrid progressing through the club’s youth system before moving on. After signing for Athletico Madrid a few years back he has been loaned out to teams in the second tier of Spanish football where he has made a huge impact. He scored 13 goals for the Athletico Madrid B team and has scored 15 for Huesca since arriving at the football club. Leeds currently only have Pablo Hernandez who plays in the number 10 role, and Kemar Roofe who occasionally impressed there last season. If Leeds are to mount a promotion push this season and use the attacking midfielder there will need to be a new signing in that position without doubt.
