Finally the transfer saga of the summer at Leeds so far is over, subject to a medical that is. Leeds have this afternoon confirmed the signing of Spanish ace Samu Saiz and confirm he will travel to Austria for pre-season once he passes his medical.
The number 10 has signed from Huesca in Spain for a fee believed to be in the region of £3.1 million, the second highest fee paid by Leeds for any player since relegation from the Premier League, falling short of the £3.5 million we paid for Swedish international Pontus Jansson earlier this summer.
Saiz is expected to sign a 3-year-deal and we already know he will be on wages of around £17k per week. Leeds saw of competition from La Liga clubs Real Betis and Eibar to secure the deal for the best player outside of the Spanish top tier according to sources in Spain. The medical will most probably take place later tonight or tomorrow and Saiz is expected to be announced in the squad for Austria later this week.
Mad always we have an in-depth fan view from Huesca on Saiz, and it’s a cracker. Keep a look out for that later tonight.
