Until a couple of weeks ago the future of Giuseppe Bellusci seemed certain but recent days have posed a serious question about whether Leeds may well keep the Italian defender. Today Phil Hay has confirmed that will not be the case, and he will be moved on.

Even those who rate Bellusci as a player will see that this is the only way forward. In terms of actual ability Bellusci wasn’t out of his depth at Leeds, but his erratic decision making and constant lack of professional behaviour meant he looked more than out of his depth, and the relentless negativity that came from him meant he was never going to stand a chance at the club again, especially with the improvements made last season.

Bellusci has played 90 minutes over the last two games, 45 against Harrogate Town and then again against Guiseley. The situation surrounding his return came to a head at Guiseley where he had an altercation or two with a handful of fans who were directing anger towards the man who led a six-man walkout at Charlton a few years ago. Bellusci will leave the club and probably return to Italy. Drama over. We move on.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
