Long gone are the days of only being able to attract the players that weren’t wanted by their clubs, were out of work and needed to find a club and loan players who nobody seemed to want. For the last few years we have slowly began to spend in the transfer market and this season we have taken it to another level under Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta, the man who funds and the man who finds.

It started under the disgusting guidance of GFH (Gulf Finance House) who spent money they didn’t have, but spent it all the same. The likes of Luke Murphy arrived, the man who commanded the first £1 million fee since our Premier League days. Massimo Cellino then arrived and did spend money on the squad, although nothing like the current spending. His most noticeable deals were Chris Wood, Kemar Roofe and Marcus Antonsson for a total of around £8 million. He spent here and there on others. Andrea Radrizzani has splashed the cash since his arrival despite spending £20 million on Elland Road. The squad is now worth a fair chunk of money and it will only get bigger. The actual value of the players is more than what we have paid but even then it’s head and shoulders the most expensive squad in recent history, and we are lapping it up.

That’s a rough price on the players but some fees will be slightly off. It doesn’t look like that will be the final amount either with Leeds being linked with the likes of Aden Flint who is valued at over £4 million. It makes a nice change with the strength in depth and business done early, plus the fact that we have spent some serious money this summer. There is a very good feeling around the club at the moment.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
