Tough day at the office but a point is better than none. Preston were well worth a point despite the frustrating time wasting, mainly in the last half hour once Pearson had seen red. We never really got going and we sit on four points after two games, a huge improvement on last season but we probably expected more today, and changes will need to be made Tuesday.

Wiedwald – 6 – Had nothing to do all game really. I like that he doesn’t want to launch the ball every time he gets it. Hard to really praise or criticise him. Rob Green wasn’t on the bench today again so we can’t even say he would have done better or worse. Steady.

Ayling – 7 – I thought Ayling grew into the game after an incident early on. He was caught by a high boot but the ref got it wrong and gave the free-kick against him for a high boot. He seemed to lose his head a little, flying into a tackle with both feet minutes later but then got better and better. Composed at the back under pressure at times.

Jansson – 7 – We were good at the back today and despite one error where he lost the ball in his own box he defended very well. Hugill is a handful for any defender at this level and between Cooper and Jansson they controlled him, despite the big striker winning a lot of headers.

Cooper – 7 – I’ve been very critical of the Scottish defender in the past and I have to give credit where it is due. He was good and solid today. Only a couple of diagonal balls, one of which he picked Roofe out with but I would still like to see him cut them out. Overall he did his job.

Borthwick-Jackson – 7 – I thought he was our best attacking outlet towards the end of the game. Where the three in front of the midfield were creating next to nothing he was getting in behind and whipping balls into the area. Also defended very well. Much taller than what I thought, think he will be a very good signing. #PAS MOM

Phillips – 5 – Very poor game after last Sunday. Was completely bossed by Pearson and Daniels in the middle of the pitch and the only thing I was surprised with was that it took so long to make the change. Needs to find his consistency otherwise he will struggle this season. I don’t expect him to start on Tuesday.

O’Kane – 7 – I thought O’Kane did well in a few aspects today. He was the playmaker from deep but had little help in front of him. I also thought the tackles and physical presence in the middle was all him today until Vieira came off the bench. Isn’t that sort of player but it needed doing, and he was the one who provided it.

Ezgjan Alioski – 5 – I thought he was poor today but it’s clear he is still adapting. He was electric against Port Vale on Wednesday but he struggled against a physical Preston side today who were very resolute at the back. Much more to come from him, worked hard but wasn’t his day today.

Pablo Hernandez – 5 – Had pressure on him to perform today after Samu Saiz was dropped despite a mid-week debut hat-trick. Simple, he didn’t. We need so much more from a player who is in the side to be the creative spark.

Roofe – 5 – Had a shocker today. Well I say a shocker he just didn’t do anything. Really needs to be running at players and finding a way to get past them even if they are quicker or more powerful. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him left out on Tuesday.

Chris Wood – 6 – Had the chance of the game but couldn’t take it. I was very glad to see him come out and play despite the news of a £17 million bid from the Premier League. Too many players are forcing moves out of a club. Hopefully he will be here come September.

Samu Saiz – 6 – Got on the ball but couldn’t make anything happen. Needs to be starting games from now on.

Ronaldo Vieira – 7 – I thought he finally gave us dominance in the middle of the park, put himself about and controlled the last half hour, the ten men certainly helped.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
