Leeds look set to get into their own transfer battle now with a bid of around £6 million for Middlesbrough’s Rudy Gestede turned down according to reports. The Guardian (reputable) are reporting the bid and Phil Hay has been told that Boro have turned it down, but as we know that is probably not the end of it.
Phil Hay confirmed that Leeds are very interested in the big striker and it certainly represents the intent that Leeds are now showing. Andrea Radrizzani has come out and told Leeds United fans not to worry, the money will all be reinvested and that is music to the ears of Leeds United fans who have seen players sold for millions over the years and none of that money then spent putting the squad back together. Thomas Christiansen has said that Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani are currently in Italy and something should be confirmed in the near future, and it seems like we are also chasing others.
The Guardian are reporting that Leeds are now in the hunt for Gestede and the striker can certainly score goals at this level if he finds his feet again. He banged in the goals for Blackburn a few years ago before a big money move to the Premier League with Aston Villa, and then another big money move to Middlesbrough where it again, hasn’t really worked out. He certainly has talent and he has played in every game for Boro this season, and the club have turned down Leeds’ first approach. As we know with the likes of Chris Wood clubs often start off with a bid and then improve it again when the first inevitably gets rejected.
