According to Sky sources Leeds have now ended their interest in Middlesbrough striker Rudy Gestede. It was brought to light last week that Leeds had made a £6 million bid for the forward, a bid that was rejected by Boro.

Gestede has been starting games for Boro this season under ex-Leeds box Garry Monk. That was always going to make the deal extremely difficult and the fact that the whole of the country is aware we received £15 million for Chris Wood hasn’t helped our cause in any way, teams know we have the money and they also know that there is little time for us to replace the Kiwi.

Gestede was brought to Boro by Victor Orta who is now in charge of recruitment at Leeds and is doing a very good job it has to be said. Leeds valued Gestede at around £6 million and with Boro not even interested in talking it was always going to be difficult to pursue the deal, and we all know Leeds won’t go splashing cash just for the sake of it. Lasogga of Hamburg is the one set to join as things stand.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
