I won’t bore anyone with a rundown of the game. It was an embarrassment and what has been said since worried me greatly, and I always try to look for the positives, unfortunately for the last three games, and five if you take Millwall into account those positives have become very hard to pluck out of performances and tactics that are wrong from start to finish. Here goes.

Andy Lonergan – 5 – Had one very good save from Mo Barrow but his kicking wasn’t great, a couple heading out of play. Also flapped a bit at a corner. If Christiansen didn’t have faith in Wiedwald 100% he should have kept Rob Green around.

Luke Ayling – 4 – Shocker of a day yet again at right-back. Got absolutely done for the only goal of the game and nothing else can be said regarding positives. Touch was very poor, couldn’t get to grips with the wingers on his side.

Pontus Jansson – 3 – Worst I have seen Jansson in a Leeds shirt since he arrived last season. Consistently gave the ball away and eventually it looked like he lost his head, smashing a shot from 40 yards and putting one into row z from 10 yards out.

Liam Cooper – 5 – Covering for an out of sorts Jansson at times but wasn’t great either. Did win his headers and swept up well when Jansson was beaten. Didn’t feel like he was a leader today though and we needed one more than ever.

Gaetano Berardi – 3 – Terrible today and doesn’t seem to have recovered since coming back into the side a few weeks back. Was torn to pieces at times today and began to mistime tackles and headers. He did get better but was subbed for Dallas who came on at left-back.

Eunan O’Kane – 5 – O’Kane was one of the very few who actually looked like he really cared today and despite not having a great game the effort was there and he did try to get us going. Some driving runs were ended with wayward shots because quite simply he had no other option.

Kalvin Phillips – 3 – Third game on the bounce where he has done zero. How Ronaldo Vieira isn’t in this side now is beyond belief and how Phillips hasn’t been coming off when things haven’t been going well is even stranger. It feels like Thomas Christiansen is being stubborn for the sake of it.

Kemar Roofe – 3 – Another who had a mare. Kept falling over in the first-half and I couldn’t really put my finger on what he and Pablo Hernandez were meant to be doing today. Brought nothing to the side and didn’t do his work defensively.

Samu Saiz – 6 – Was getting very frustrated with his team-mates today and it was clear to see why. He had the ball and was making things happen, or trying to make things happen but not one player on the park was willing to help him out.

Pablo Hernandez – 3 – Arguably the worst player on the park. Awful from minute one to minute ninety-five. Gave the ball away again and again, and again. Tried to get his nut-megs in as always, rather than just release the ball and as for the penalty…worst I have seen in a very long time.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga – 3 – Very similar performance as the ones at Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall, non-existent. He was chasing the defenders but when the ball came to him it didn’t stick. Didn’t barely jump once all day.

Hadi Sacko – 7 – The best player on the pitch along with Saiz. He changed the game for us and actually looked like he wanted to be there. Gave us an outlet.

Jay-Roy Grot – 4 – Don’t really know what to say about Grot.

Stuart Dallas – N/A

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
