Another win which moves us closer to the top six, the gap now closed to just a couple of points. In all fairness we were comfortable throughout the game, Norwich offered little and when they did get through a very organised Leeds Felix Wiedwald made sure it stayed at 1-0. we certainly weren’t at our best but we were solid and scored at a crucial stage.

Ratings

Felix Wiedwald – 8 – After last week you could have worried about his confidence but just as crucial as the goal was his save at the start of the second half as Pritchard seemed like he couldn’t miss. Good distribution and safe hands today, very impressive. Had the fans chanting his name after the save and after the game.

Luke Ayling – 6 – It was Ayling who got caught out of position for the Norwich chance, the ball played inside of him. Was beaten a few times and sloppy with the ball in spells. Wasn’t his best game but certainly nothing major to worry about.

Pontus Jansson – 9 – #PASMOM – Back to his very best at the moment. Headed everything that came into the Leeds box and got his goal at the other end with a lovely finish off the inside of the post. Loving his football again and it makes a huge difference to the whole stadium when he plays like he did today.

Liam Cooper – 8 – Very good again today. Has been so much better since the break and in this form we are looking solid and consistent at the back. The ability of Jansson helps him massively. Still needs to be better on the ball but he kept Oliviera quiet which isn’t an easy job.

Gaetano Berardi – 6 – When Norwich did get the ball wide and ran at Berardi he didn’t look great. Mistimed a few lunging tackles and in general didn’t get close to his men. Needs to be better when we come up against better players.

Ronaldo Vieira – 6 – Worked very hard but I thought he was poor on the ball today. Grafted to make sure Pritchard, Maddison and Reed couldn’t get into the game. In terms of ground covered there won’t be anyone who did more today than Vieira.

Kalvin Phillips – 6 – Like Vieira worked very hard but didn’t really dominate the game. Nearly scored a cracker and also hit the post from a free-kick from Cibicki. Needs to try to get into the box when the ball goes wide. Steady game.

Gjanni Alioski – 6 – Very quiet game today but probably the first in a while. Worked very hard tracking back to help Berardi but he just couldn’t get on the ball in the final third to make things happen. Saiz often chose not pass the ball so many times when Alioski was free.

Samu Saiz – 6 – Very poor game today, the third on the bounce. Should have finished the game off but maybe tried to be to clever by tricking the keeper and ended up hitting the post. Hanging onto the ball far too long and not making the right decisions. He’ll come back into form soon.

Pawel Cibicki – 8 – I was very impressed with the Swedish winger today. His set-pieces are very good, and his ball in for the goal was perfect Ran at players, showed very good feet and worked hard going back and helping Luke Ayling out. Encouraging debut.

Kemar Roofe – 6 – Couldn’t really get in behind the Norwich defence today but worked hard and was very good linking up the play with the players behind him. If he had gone through at the end he would have scored but he had just gone off.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
