A tweet from LUFC SS5 has taken off this week, the account put out an old photo of Leeds fans and put forward the idea of everyone bringing their scarves and flags back to Elland Road like old times so the players could come out to an old school entrance, and the club have backed the idea. The club have also reduced prices from £9, to £4 in light of the situation.

On top of that the idea, now looking very much on the cards could be made reality by a sell-out crowd, in fact it almost certainly will be a sell-out, with well under 1000 tickets lets for the game in what is sure to be an atmosphere ramped up by the fact the team are back on form and it’s the final game before Christmas, and last at Elland Road in 2017. If the majority of fans do brings scarves and we can get that happening every week like the old scenes at Elland Road it will just add to the atmosphere which has returned over the past few years.

The club is keen on ideas like this, the recent scene at home to Middlesbrough saw the entire East Stand create “Together” for the Sky cameras and to be fair it helped build a quality atmosphere that Boro fans simply didn’t cope with, the South Stand taking over kick-off and making sure they won’t forget their trip to Elland Road in a hurry, it’s fair to say there were plenty of complaints from the away fans after the game. This idea to bring back the scarves is great, and hopefully fans can get on board, the old pictures of Elland Road before and after kick-off are special, and there is no reason we can’t get that back.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
