In all honesty we couldn’t be playing Hull at a worse time. They have a new manager and he’s had a couple of weeks to settle in now and he’ll want to make an impression, where better than at Elland Road. One of the lesser Yorkshire Derbies and a game that Thomas Christiansen will be targeting three points, but certainly not a banker.

My XI

GK – Felix Wiedwald – A crazy couple of weeks for the German goalkeeper. Recalled, looking good and then thrust back into the debate after a horrific error at Queens Park Rangers, followed by a very good save minutes later. A week later he then pulled off a match winning save against Norwich City. Easily the number one though. We simply concede less goals with him in the team.

RB – Luke Ayling – Been playing much better since the international break and needs to be on top of his game tomorrow as he comes up against the lively and creative Kamil Grosiski. The Polish winger has been in good form despite the poor form of Hull City. Bowen may come over and play on the left at some stage as well. Both good players.

CB – Pontus Jansson – A huge player and even more important he’s now back in form. We always stand a chance of winning when he is at the back, and he’s looking for his third goal in the last three games at Elland Road.

CB – Liam Cooper – His form is back to it’s best, helped along by Pontus Jansson. Level headed and seems to be reading the game rather than jumping in at the back. Needs to be composed on the ball rather than try to play huge passes, will be keeping tabs on Fraizer Campbell tomorrow.

LB – Gaetano Berardi – I have been asking for Cameron Borthwick-Jackson for a few weeks now, I don’t think that Berardi is in great form but clearly there’s something wrong with Borthwick-Jackson’s attitude off the pitch because in terms of natural talent, he’s probably the best. We get it all from Berardi, and the effort and commitment isn’t rivalled by anyone on the pitch.

CM – Ronaldo Vieira – Didn’t have a good game against Norwich on the ball but put the work in and helped us over the line. It’s the only game where he hasn’t stood out since he returned. Will be key in the middle of the pitch tomorrow.

CM – Kalvin Phillips – I do like what Kalvin Phillips can bring, but I would like to see it more often. Needs to break past Samu Saiz and hit the penalty spot more for me. His ability to get the crowd on side with big tackles is another valuable asset, but again it needs to happen more.

RW – Pawel Cibicki – I have just changed this a few times. The big debate for me is Pawel or Pablo. Hernandez was playing very well before he picked up an injury and if he starts tomorrow I will be more than happy, but if I’m going with my gut Cibicki should start for his last two performances. Very impressed with his start to life in the team.

CAM – Samu Saiz – Without sounding harsh (it probably does) he’s been very poor the last three games. It doesn’t bother me because I know how good he is, and how important he is to this football club. He will come back into form soon, hopefully an early Christmas present for us.

LW – Gjanni Alioski – I would like to see a big game from this lad tomorrow. Wasn’t great against Norwich City but his work rate was incredible. Has so much to offer in the final third and is going through patches, if he’s on it tomorrow he could really do damage, the Hull City full-backs aren’t great.

ST – Kemar Roofe – Deserves to keep his place. What’s important for me is that he actually gets some service tomorrow because there was none against Norwich. Put the ball on a plate for him and he will score.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
