Changes. Some players need a rest and it’s time we used the squad. I keep going on about what Luke Ayling said about what went wrong last season, the squad wasn’t used and players were made to play more games than they needed to. We have just played a grueling 90 minutes at Birmingham and we looked tired there, so if we don’t make the right changes we could fall foul at Elland Road on New Years Day.

GK – Felix Wiedwald – He didn’t cover himself in glory at Birmingham with the winning goal but so much was going wrong in front of him you can’t put the blame there. Made a wonderful save just before the goal. Distribution key tomorrow. Forest keep the ball well.

RB – Vurnon Anita – Ayling has been dipping for weeks, he needs a rest. For me Anita should have started the game in the middle of the park yesterday, for some reason Thomas Christiansen refuses to use the Dutch utility player.

CB – Pontus Jansson – Should be ok to play the two games in 48 hours, will be disappointed in the last 20 minutes at Birmingham when the defence began to wobble.

CB – Matthew Pennington – Liam Cooper struggled to get up to speed at Birmingham and made some late tackles, just as he did at Burton a few days before. Maybe needs a rest, give Pennington the nod and see what he can do alongside Jansson again.

LB – Gaetano Berardi – Didn’t have a good game at all at Birmingham and he will want to bounce back. Forest will move the ball quickly and look to retain it. Berardi will have to stay focused and make sure he doesn’t get dragged inside.

CM – Mateusz Klich – As far as I know both Ronaldo Vieira and Eunan O’Kane are still out, so Klich has to start if they can’t play. We had no control in the middle, you could tell that from the team-sheet before the game. Without Vieira we look very, very poor.

CM – Kalvin Phillips – I think Phillips was left exposed yesterday, by his partner and by the players in front of him. He didn’t play well but we need him physical game in the middle tomorrow. Forest will be physical and we have to match them.

RW – Pawel Cibicki – Straight fight between Cibicki and Alioski for me, with Alioksi really looking jaded. Cibicki has been extremely poor in the last couple of games, but hasn’t look tired. I wouldn’t risk Alioski in the game, he’s played a lot of football and does a lot of work.

CAM – Samu Saiz – We need him back.

LW – Pablo Hernandez – Should be ok to play the game, hasn’t played as much as others in the last couple of months and is one of the only players who looked like making something happen in the game at St. Andrews.

ST – Kemar Roofe – Give him chances and he’ll probably take them. The issue is we aren’t giving him enough chances. Feeding off scraps doesn’t do it justice at Birmingham.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
