Some may not like these ratings but coming away from that game I was massively disappointed. Yes we created some clear chances but in terms of how we played it was terrible. Saiz was the only player who looked like he could create chances and we were so predictable. Without Vieira we look weak and the signs from the club are that we won’t spend any money in January. I can’t honestly look at that team at the moment and say its top 6. It needs help, it’s hugely naïve of the club to think we have enough after what happened January last year. I’ll get onto that later, but this is just the ratings.

Felix Wiedwald – 7 – One of the best performers today. People moan that he palms corners away, there is nothing wrong with it. Made one very good save and another standard when Forest were all over us, crucial time, he did very well today.

Luke Ayling – 6 – Subbed off in the first half injured, he needed a rest, Christiansen needs to use his squad more.

Pontus Jansson – 7 – The defence were pretty good today, Anita was poor when he came on but Jansson and Cooper stood up especially when Forest were relentlessly coming forward during a second half spell.

Liam Cooper – 7 – Played well, dealt with a few different players and made one exceptional tackle in the first-half. If he gets that wrong he goes off and we are probably losing 0-1.

Gaetano Berardi – 7 – Much better today after his below par performance on Saturday. No idea why he was moved to right-back when Anita could have played there. Straight away Anita, thrown in at the deep end after months out was on the wrong side.

Eunan O’Kane – 6 – On the ball I thought he was very good at times and in spells, made things tick but off the ball it was just a wide open space in the middle. Didn’t make enough forward passes, mainly sideways which is needed at times, but he has to have more variety.

Kalvin Phillips – 4 – Very poor again. I do like what Phillips can bring but hasn’t had a good game in a few now and I can’t see us making the top 6 with him in the middle for the remainder of the season. Has to pick his game back up. Anonymous today.

Gjanni Alioksi – 4 – For me he was the poorest player on the park. Hugely frustrating and has been getting away with performances because he works hard. That isn’t enough when he’s one of the main attacking threats. Worst I’ve seen him in a Leeds shirt today. Maybe needed a rest, TC needs to be picking up on that.

Samu Saiz – 8 – He does frustrate me at times, holds onto the ball when easy passes are on but in general he is so far ahead of where the others are. Set up two golden chances, both messed up, one by Roofe and the other Hernandez.

Pablo Hernandez – 6 – Tried to make things happen and worked hard but should have scored.

Kemar Roofe – 5 – Had two massive chances, first he was just unlucky, keeper made a good spilt second save from a corner but the second was just a lack of composure. Just needed to drill it across goal but smashed it off the bar.

Vurnon Anita – 4 – Granted he was very poor when he came on but what can we expect? Months of being sat in the bench, no football at all and thrown into a game at left-back. The squad management hasn’t been good enough so far.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga – 4 – Hard to think he started so well. Looks unfit and uninterested.

Hadi Sacko – 6 – Say what you want about Sacko he helped us be more direct today and was as effective as Alioksi was in the last three or four games combined. We probably didn’t use him enough.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
