Thomas Christiansen didn’t have much choice with the team he could pick today, injuries and suspensions have meant key players are ruled out of the game as well as new signing Laurens De Bock not being ready in time to play. The team itself was predictable and the bench doesn’t look very strong although it’s good to have Stuart Dallas back. It highlights the need for movement in the transfer market whatever the result today.

Leeds Team

GK – Felix Wiedwald – Back in the side looking to keep a clean sheet at Ipswich, something Leeds haven’t done in such a long time.

RB – Gaetano Berardi – Back into his right-back role for the rest of the season now with Luke Ayling injured.

CB – Pontus Jansson – Will relish the physical battle today, Ipswich will come out of the blocks early and look to get balls into the box from the off.

CB – Liam Cooper – (c) – Now one of the players who are on the team-sheet every week. Needs to make sure he doesn’t get dragged out today and Ipswich will pile players into the box when they can.

LB – Vurnon Anita – Should be feeling better (despite the results) after playing some minutes recently. The management structure hasn’t looked after the players not playing in the first-team this season, Anita a prime example. Should have been playing for the under 23’s at least.

CM – Eunan O’Kane – The Portman Road pitch doesn’t suit the way O’Kane likes to play so he needs to get rid of the ball quickly today and use the three in front of him.

CM – Kalvin Phillips – A physical battle awaits Leeds, let’s hope Kalvin Phillips is up for it. If he is then he could thrive, if not the game will pass him by.

RW – Pawel Cibicki – Starts despite playing very poor in his last few games. Can he cope with the physical side?

CAM – Pablo Hernandez – The pitch last season meant that everything he did in this fixture didn’t work. Less touches and brave passing the key today.

LW – Gjanni Alioksi – Will want to come back and make an impact after struggling recently. Up against Luke Chambers, a tough day if he let’s the Ipswich captain get on top of him early.

ST – Kemar Roofe – We need to hope he gets the service. Normally a game with limited chances.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
