I couldn’t stomach doing this last night and to be honest I don’t really feel like doing it this morning. I’ve never been to a game of football like that yesterday and I don’t think I’ll ever go to another one either. The first half was abysmal and after a wonderful 30 minutes in the second half I feel like Thomas Christiansen undid all of his own and his players work. Lasogga was clearly injured before Roofe was taken off, and even when Lasogga came off there was Sacko or Cibicki on the bench. One of the worst examples of game management I have ever seen. Shaughnessy shouldn’t have come on, and Pablo Hernandez who was controlling the game was put up front on his own.
Felix Wiedwald – 7 – In a bizarre game the goalkeeper, who conceded four was brilliant. He kept us in the game at times with two are three brilliant saves. When we went 0-2 down he was the only one getting the players up for it, trying to motivate and the same when we went 3-4 down at the end. Shows how backwards the game was that he was so good.
Gaetano Berardi – 7 – The full-backs actually played very well, the issues were in other areas. Berardi was one of the key figures who led the recovery in the second half, armband on and maybe there is a case of him keeping it, because Liam Cooper, red card or not should not have gone in for that tackle. Berardi restrained from doing it a couple of times in the second half.
Pontus Jansson – 6 – I didn’t actually think, for all his effort and passion he had a great game. He couldn’t cope with balls into the box because quite simply he didn’t know who to mark. Two big defenders and two big strikers who had the freedom of our 18 yard box for 90 minutes.
Liam Cooper – 4 – He wasn’t having a good game as it was, Steve Morison was bullying him and the challenge was just daft, even if it wasn’t red just keep your head and most importantly get your touch right in the first place. I was just saying he was having a good season before he did it.
Laurens De Bock – 6 – There is little argument we looked totally different team with two up front. If Thomas Christiansen doesn’t start with two up front against Hull in the next game it will be farcical. De Bock was good throughout and was at his best in the left wing-back position.
Ronaldo Vieira – 4 – Didn’t look like the player we are used to saying, gave the ball away nearly every time he got it and was bullied by Morison for the second goal. Adam Forshaw was ruled out by Thomas Christiansen through injury, despite the club pushing it through in time for the game, and the player saying he was fit and ready to go on Saturday just 24 hours before being ruled out. Make of that what you will.
Kalvin Phillips – 5 – He was probably a 3 in the first half and an 8 in the second, that’s the way the game went. The space in the middle of the pitch was criminal during the first half and then towards the end of the game. For that 25 minutes we dominated he was key, but juts like the others, 25 minutes isn’t good enough.
Kemar Roofe – 6 – Was quiet in the first half but he really took the game by the scruff of the neck in the second. A great assist before he got the equaliser. I think if he stays on we win the game, he was causing mayhem. Christiansen said he wanted to come off.
Pablo Hernandez – 8 – Best player in a Leeds shirt, played well most of the game and was the man who had us in control in the second. To take him out of the middle and play him up front at 3-2 was honestly one if the worst calls your likely to see this season.
Gjanni Alioski – 6 – Much better yesterday, his defensive work was incredible and he got some very good crosses into the box. I thought he ran out of legs and like the rest of the players he was let down by awful tactics in the last 10 minutes.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga – 7 – I don’t really know what to say about him, a bit like Phillips he was terrible in the first-half, he missed two sitters and then became unplayable in the second half. His goals were brilliant and he bossed the entire Millwall backline before getting subbed. His legs were gone, he was injured, it’s who came on for him where the issue lies. Went from a 2 to a 9 in the halves.
Matthew Pennington – 7 – Very good when he came on, kept us in it at 2-2 a couple of times.
Stuart Dallas – 4 – Gave the ball away for the winner, looked shattered, tough game to be flung back into for the lad.
Conor Shaughnessy – 3 – Disaster of a decision from Christiansen. Lost us the game in my opinion.
