One of the clubs best young players is set to head out on loan again, Mallik Wilks has been liked with a chance in the first-team at Elland Road but looks like he will be joining Grimsby Town for the remainder of the season.

Wilks recently returned from a loan spell with Accrington Stanley after impressing for the League Two side, scoring a few important goals for the club. It now looks like he will head back to League Two, but will this time link up with Grimsby Town, a side who are doing well this season. Recently promoted Grimsby are now a steady side in League Two and, much like their rivals Lincoln will feel like they can push on in the next few years.

Wilks is one of the brightest talents in the Leeds United system at the moment and many fans have been asking the question, is he ready for the first-team? The answer is probably no but we need something new in the striker department at the club and after his loan spell he was certainly an option. A good half to the season with Grimsby may well mean he travels with the squad in pre-season and gets his chance in the side. It’s a big 4 months for Wilks.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
