Although the game isn’t until Sunday the XI I would like to see always goes up on the Friday night. The game is very important but not juts for the result, we need to see the players come out of their shell again, especially at Elland Road after a horrendous start to the year, and all we need is the intent and spark that we have lacked for so many months. I don’t feel like there is anything to lose and going 4-4-2 would just give us the element of surprise.

GK – Felix Wiedwald – probably the most consistent player for Leeds in recent times which is bizarre to think after how much stick he came in for at the start of the season. Distribution important tomorrow because if we go direct we need players around Lasogga.

RB – Stuart Dallas – One of the better players at Sheffield United but playing a winger at full-back you should see the attacking side of his game which we haven’t yet. Hopefully we can, the other option is to start Anita at right-back and play Dallas on the wing.

CB – Pontus Jansson – Has lifted his game recently but you can tell his confidence is taking its toll, more so at the end of the game after another loss. He’s one of those players who needs confidence from the head-coach, Heckingbottom will be doing just that.

CB – Matthew Pennington – Very hard to judge at the moment, I think he panics at times and at other times looks so comfortable in tight areas. Need to see some consistency from him in the coming weeks.

LB – Laurens De Bock – Of all his games in a Leeds shirt his toughest was at Sheffield United. He didn’t use the ball well and was caught up with daft fouls which we need to stop giving away.

RW – Hadi Sacko – The most controversial of my picks for Sunday’s game but I have my reasons. The other options are Dallas or Cibicki in my eyes because both Alioksi and Roofe need a reality check. Both are so used to playing but aren’t performing. Sacko won’t give any less than them but will be more of a threat despite his success rate in the final third.

CM – Adam Forshaw – The best player in a Leeds shirt since he arrived, delighted we have him at the club. Will seriously want a win under his belt.

CM – Ronaldo Vieira – A player well out of form but one that on his day could make the difference in terms of energy and pressing. One of his best games was in the return fixture.

LW – (c) – Pablo Hernandez – Turned the game for us at Brammell Lane but unfortunately he couldn’t do it with only a handful of players on the same wavelength as him.

ST – Pierre-Michel Lasogga – Says he is focused now and his confidence has returned since the arrival of Paul Heckingbottom, on his day a match for any defence in this league, give him a partner and see how he goes.

ST – Caleb Ekuban – Back from injury and probably won’t start but why not go two up front. The play-offs are a long way away, if we lose, why not give it a real go from the start.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
