Sky Sports have now changed the away fixture at Aston Villa to Friday 13th, a 7:45pm kick-off. The fixture was always going to change with the size of the clubs but this will take us to nineteen live games to that point, a staggering statistic that we literally get no benefit from.

Leeds face Wolves next Wednesday, our 18th live game of the season and there is little doubt that there will be more before the end of the season. We will have played around half of our games live on Sky Sports this season, more than 75% of the Premier League and yet we get little money compared to them, not far off the viewers sometimes more and shocking kick-off times. 3pm Saturday kick-offs are a rare breed these days for Leeds players and fans and another game has now been moved to a Friday night which isn’t great. Next Wednesday is the Wolves game and a coupe, of weeks ago it was a 4:30pm kick off on a Sunday against Bristol City.

Fans are barely considered anymore, the fans that go through the turnstiles anyway. Massimo Cellino become increasingly frustrated with what was going on and took a few extreme measures to make his point, the first was reducing our away allocation to punish opposition clubs with revenue, this affected the Leeds fans too so he produced a very quick U-turn with that. The second time he locked the Sky cameras out of Elland Road as we faced tomorrow’s opposition Middlesbrough. He had a very good cause although it didn’t come across very well. Many feel if the game wasn’t on Sky tomorrow it would already be called off due to weather and concerns over safety.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
