The final 22-man squad heading to Myanmar for the two friendlies this week has been announced via Phil Hay. A few first-team players are heading out along with some under 23’s.
Squad in full
Andy Lonergan, Baily Peacock-Farrell, Tom Pearce, Luke Ayling, Paudie O’Connor, Hugo Diaz, Tyler Denton, Bryce Hosannah, Pascal Struijk, Kalvin Phillips, Ronaldo Vieira, Samu Saiz, Jamie Shackleton, Callum Nicell, Alex Machuca, Jay-Roy Grot, Oriol Rey, Jack Clarke, Magdar Gomes, Caleb Ekuban, Ryan Edmondson, Sam Dalby.
It does seem like a good chance for Paul Heckingbottom to have a look at some of the younger players like Oriol Rey and Sam Dalby as well as giving Luke Ayling some time to get minutes on the park again. Ayling will captain the side in both games, one tomorrow lunchtime before playing the Myanmar national team on Friday and returning at the weekend. I won’t comment anymore on the trip itself, just the football, I’m out of my depth when it comes to the political side of this.
