It feels strange typing that Leeds United have just paid £27m+ for a Spanish striker the quality of Rodrigo, very strange indeed. However, I suppose that we are living in strange times what with the Covid-19 pandemic and all. Still feels strange, though.
Whichever way you look at it, from whatever angle you choose to approach it, the capture of Rodrigo Moreno from Valencia is a marquee signing. That would usually be the cherry-on-top capture, the one big signing per transfer window that Whites fans have become accustomed to.
Not according to Phil Hay of The Athletic.
Answering a question from a Leeds United fan on this article centred around the Rodrigo capture, Hay opens up on the race for SC Freiburg’s Robin Koch. On this Hay answers: “They 100% want Koch. Bid should go in for him this week.”
Bielsa only wants one more central defender and, if Koch is the one they are pushing for, then it makes sense to assume that they’ve given up chasing Ben White’s signature. Mind you, you cannot blame them after all the faffing and posturing from Brighton.
Bringing Robin Koch in the fill the gap left by Ben White will see the Whites end their pursuit of a defensive reinforcement; Bielsa only wants the one centre-back. From there it is thought that the next stop is the midfield and reinforcements for there.
