Leeds United have just announced the capture of Rodrigo Moreno for a fee believed to be around £27m – a club record. Whites fans were tracking a plane over the North Sea and were en masse at LBA waiting to catch a glimpse to then spread to social media – something that did happen. However, that might not be the last of their transfer tumult this weekend.

talkSPORT are saying that United are “interested in Luiz Felipe transfer” and, more to the point, “are ready to bid £27m” in order to land the Lazio defender. Now, talkSPORT are late to the party as Italian source La Lazio Siamo Noi stated that Leeds United had tendered a bid for Felipe of €30m/£26.8m but this was £9m short of the €40m Lazio were asking.

It could easily be put down to just transfer column inches, selling a story off the back of Leeds United’s name. It could easily be a case of ‘we move on’ for Leeds United fans and the notion of transfer interest. Except:

Phil Hay knows his onions so when he says that Bielsa is “softening on taking another CB” then it adds a layer of intrigue to things. When there’s ‘intrigue’ at Leeds United, it doesn’t take long for Leeds United fan interest to be piqued.

Could that interest be that Leeds United are moving closer to Felipe? In all honesty, I doubt it. There’s Robin Koch making up that gap left by Ben White and it is unlikely that Bielsa will drop Liam Cooper from a side he did so well in.

It is more likely that the Whites will be in the market for a player who will be a back-up and that is not Luiz Felipe. No way is the Brazilian going to drop Lazio for a chance to sit on the bench at Elland Road.
