Tomorrow we come up against one of the best footballing sides in the division and Leeds will need to be at full strength both on and off the pitch, so a welcome boost is the return of goalkeeper Rob Green. He gives us safety from the bench and a good head in the dressing room.
There is much speculation that Rob Green will be leaving the club this window but speculation has died a little and it seems he will be staying, Thomas Christiansen confident that Green will be a Leeds United player come September 1st. Green triggered a one-year extension mid-way through last season based on his appearances and then became a one-man side at times during the back-end of the season. When the attacking players were failing and not giving Chris Wood any ammunition Green kept us in games with some wonderful individual showings.
He had a shaky start to life at Leeds United, very early on the question marks were hung out. 3 minutes in to be exact. He dropped a corner at Queens Park Rangers that cost us the opening goal and summed up our performance that day. However Green ended by becoming a contender for the Player of the Year, and a serious contender for that matter. He was actually tipped to win the award and did win one of the supporters player of the year awards. It’s great to have him around even if he isn’t playing although Wiedwald hasn’t really been tested and many still want Green between the sticks.
