Thomas Christiansen has rung the changes for tonight’s game as expected and has handed full debuts to two players. The side will be expected to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat at Millwall although tonight is seen as the less important game of the two this week, Ipswich Town at Elland Road on Saturday the big one and many have been rested ahead of the game.

Leeds XI vs Burnley

GK – Andy Lonergan – His second Leeds debut after returning to the football club. He will probably have a busy game tonight and will need to communicate to a very different looking defence.

RB – Gaetano Berardi – He’s back! the Swiss warrior returns to the starting XI after a month out with a dislocated shoulder picked up on the opening day at Bolton. A key player tonight in the back four as we try to stop crosses into the box.

CB – Conor Shaughnessy – The young Irish defender has impressed when he has played so far this season and has forced Leeds not to sign another centre-back after showing he is capable. Didn’t do much wrong at Millwall on Saturday, big test tonight.

CB Luke Ayling (c) – Luke Ayling has been ever-present this season and will play in the centre back role again tonight with others injured and not ready to play. A big player in this back four and he will need to be loud and commanding.

LB – Cameron Borthwick-Jackson – The left back is the best option we have for that position in the squad for me. He needs to be playing there because Anita has been exposed the last couple of games and hopefully tonight he can prove he should be in the starting XI.

CM – Mateusz Klich – It has been a very tough start to life at Leeds United for the Polish midfielder. He was injured early in pre-season and that has cost him a place in the team this season when he seemed like a very viable option. Another chance to impress tonight.

CM – Ronaldo Vieira – One of the players who will want to get back in the starting XI in the very near future and a poor game from Phillips and O’Kane will have opened the door slightly. He has the chance to show what he’s about tonight and give TC something to think about for Saturday.

RW – Stuart Dallas – Has to be starting on Saturday against Ipswich and I just hope playing tonight doesn’t mean he will be back on the bench for the weekend. Deserves to be playing at the moment and will be up against Charlie Taylor by the looks of things.

CAM – Kemar Roofe – A strange situation for Kemar Roofe who had the best game in a Leeds United shirt since he arrived against Burton and was then dropped for the next two games. A chance to play in his preferred central role tonight.

LW – Pawel Cibicki – The Swedish forward makes his debut tonight after being on the bench for the last three games. We now have the chance to see what he could add to the squad and he will be very keen to make sure he impresses.

ST – Jay-Roy Grot – The big Dutch striker has the chance to get into the game from the start tonight after coming off the bench in three of his Leeds United games so far. Holding onto the ball will be very important away from home tonight and Grot will need to be strong and aware of what’s around him.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
