Not a surprise at all that when the new set of fixtures were announced for TV today that Leeds United were on it. I genuinely think we will be on every release date this season and this time we have a trip to Oakwell to face Yorkshire rivals Barnsley in what is sure to be a tough trip.
In terms of atmosphere and tough nights the trip to Oakwell was one of the best and worst for away days last season. It was like they wanted nothing more than to do us over on the night and although we find that when we go away a lot it did seem especially fierce at Oakwell last season, maybe because they hadn’t played us in a few years before that night. The game has been moved to a 12:30pm kick off on Saturday 25th November, and will be sure to attract one of, if not the biggest attendance of the season for Barnsley.
The South Yorkshire club have had an up and down start to the season and certainly won’t go down come May but will probably be just as far off the promotion places as they are the relegation. They have a very young squad full of potential and a young manager who is making a name for himself at this level. We will sell-out our away allocation I have absolutely no doubt about that and it will be another Yorkshire Derby that will attract a huge following on the box. They just can’t keep away.
