Leeds have been linked with Josh Vela ahead of the January window. The 23-year-old midfielder, who can also play as a centre-back is widely sought-after and according to the papers he is wanted by Leeds United. There are other clubs heavily linked, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County, and not long ago even Liverpool were linked with a move for him.

Some fans really don’t enjoy reading about transfer news and rumours, so if you don’t then these are the articles not to read. We said from the beginning we would keep on top of as many of the stories as we could. The debate whether or not player will suit us then is good to discuss, and we all know fans like to discuss transfer stories. Anyway, back to the article, if you are interested. English midfielder Vela is linked with a move away and Leeds are said to be one of a number of clubs interested in the player. If you haven’t heard of him, or seen him play then there is a lot to admire, despite Bolton having a tough season. Phil Parkinson and his men have dug themselves out of the relegation zone a few times now and may actually survive, a team that had been written off and not helped by a transfer embargo in recent times. Just because a player is at a team lower than us doesn’t make him a bad player, for some reason if they aren’t Premier League players linked people become frustrated.

Bolton Wanderers are one of the most recent clubs to have been stung by poor ownership and they are just about making their way back off the pitch, and on it they had success in League One, and much of that was down to midfielder Josh Vela. A big lad, physical and not afraid to put a foot in but also technically gifted. His vision and composure on the ball are what impress me the most when I watch him and he can control patches of games in the deeper position of midfield. Would I take him over Ronaldo Vieira? No, there aren’t many that I would take over him but the fact he can play at the back and is young, can be developed and progress would mean it wouldn’t be a bad signing at all if it came off. With Matty Klich linked with moves away then there would be a place for another central midfielder, a position that could certainly do with some more competition. It would make sense that Vila moves on in the near future, he’s a very good player and probably looking to progress sooner rather than later.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
