Just the nine changes for the game today then as Thomas Christiansen looks to avoid a cup shock in South Wales. Gaetano Berardi and Kalvin Phillips keep their place from Monday’s game and only Samu Saiz and Liam Cooper are regulars on the bench. This team is more than capable of getting a result today, and the players have no excuses for not winning a tricky game.
GK – Andy Lonergan – Starts as expected with Felix Wiedwald dropping from the squad. A very new back four in front of him so needs to make sure they communicating at all times.
RB – Vurnon Anita – Back in the side after coming off the bench against Nottingham Forest. The time on the pitch will do him good. Struggled in this fixture earlier in the season.
CB – Conor Shaughnessy – Personally I thought he should never have been put in the middle of the pitch against Birmingham. Much better at centre-back, a chance to show how good on and off the ball he can be there.
CB – Gaetano Berardi – Starts in an unfamiliar position, but it hasn’t been confirmed if he will maybe play at left or right back and Borthwick-Jackson in at centre-back where he can play. Will perhaps captain the side.
LB – Cameron Borthwick-Jackson – Back in the side for the first time since the game at Leicester City. Very talented player, could he perhaps make a claim to be back involved on a more regular basis today.
RW – Hadi Sacko – I was actually happy to see Sacko off the bench on Monday, I thought he looked hungrier than pervious times he had come on. Should be having fun today, needs to regain his confidence.
CM – Matty Klich – Finally. I would love him to control this game and show he is capable of being in and around the first-team.
CM – Kalvin Phillips – Should be enjoying this today. He has played a lot of games this season and I would love to see him get on the ball more today and really take the game by the scruff of the neck.
LW – Pawel Cibicki – Back in the team after being dropped for the Nottingham Forest game. Won’t have come up against opposition like this before, needs to be strong.
ST – Pierre-Michel Lasogga – This is a game he should dominate, a player who has come from Hamburg, started well and faded off.
ST – Jay-Roy Grot – Hasn’t had an easy start to life at Leeds United, he should be able to make an impact today. Gets a partner, will be interesting to see.
