Robbie Willmott could have been forgiven if he hadn’t responded to the apology of Samu Saiz today but the winger has come out and responded very well. Willmott not only accepted the apology but actually played it down and said Samu Saiz was one of his favourite players in the Championship.
Saiz has been banned for six games after being sent off for spitting on Willmott, something both he and the club have accepted. Saiz also issued an apology via the club website today, the fans and both clubs as well as Willmott were mentioned in the statement. Leeds have said that there will be an internal disciplinaey for Saiz, a hefty fine certainly coming his way, and it’s to be expected and deserved. The Newport winger today responded so well given the circumstances and it is testament to his character and professionalism. The winger actually had a very good game, it’s a shame he has been caught up in this situation.

“I wish him and Leeds United all the best for the season and I hope they do get promoted.”
Willmott then tweeted,
