Tomorrow is a very tough game, Hull are sitting near the bottom of the table but are playing better than their position suggests. When they came to Eland Road in December they dominated us, from start to finish. We won the game through a Pablo Hernandez special, but if we don’t step up our current levels we face the prospect of being turned over tomorrow.

My XI (3-5-2)

GK – Felix Wiedwald – It’s very rare for a keeper to concede four and still have a good game but that is exactly what the German stopper did. We learned a lot about his character too, he was picking players up off the floor at 0-2 and 3-4 when nobody else would.

LCB – Gaetano Berardi – (c) – No Liam Cooper or Luke Ayling so I expect Berardi to captain the side and rightly so. Has been playing very well recently and will want to get the team pumped for tomorrow. Seemed much more comfortable going forward down his preferred side in the last game.

RCB – Matthew Pennington – Played very well when he came on against Millwall and if he ever had the chance to take his place in the team ahead of Liam Cooper this is it. He has four games, and they are getting tougher by the fixture. His big moment.

CB – Pontus Jansson – He will be hurting more than many with recent form. He doesn’t do losing very well at all and he will want to lead the fight in the next few games. The attacking sides coming up are better than what we have faced for a while, and they have been scoring at will.

LWB – Laurens De Bock – Had a decent debut but he will be wondering what sort of league he has joined after that game. Had it all and ended on a sickening note. He won’t want as much excitement tomorrow but will be up against Grosiki who tore Ayling to shreds at Elland Road, a key battle on the night.

RWB – Gjanni Alioksi – Played well in the last game for me and was much better when he didn’t have to worry about creating everything. Worked well going backwards and looked like a natural wing-back. Would be the correct call to go with wing-backs after what we saw against Millwall.

CM – Ronaldo Vieira – Had a very poor game against Millwall and will want to put that rare occurrence right tomorrow. Will finally have a partner who will keep the ball and knit things together, for me they will compliment each other.

CM – Adam Forshaw – It surely has to be a debut tomorrow with no Phillips or O’Kane and I think we will be able to keep the ball better with him being in the team. It may take him some time to get up to speed but once he is he’s one of the first names on the team-sheet.

CAM – Pablo Hernandez – When others have been fading away Pablo Hernandez has been stepping up, the opposite to this time last season. The pressure seems to be lifted and against Millwall he took the game by the scruff of the neck. I want to see more of it.

ST – Kemar Roofe – We scored more goals in 30 minutes with a front two than we had done in the previous four games so not starting with Roofe and Lasogga would be a terrible call for me. Play the pair of them and give it a real go from the start.

ST – Pierre-Michel Lasogga – Had one of the worst halves you’ll see from a striker at Millwall before dominating the back four in the second. He looked like a top Championship player as we took the game to Millwall, we know he has it in him, if he turns up like that tomorrow, we win.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
