Reports in the last couple of days suggest that Paul Heckingbottom is keen and pushing for a deal to bring Ghana international Andy Yiadom to the club in the summer. Leeds could face competition from a few Premier League clubs for the player.
Yiadom was part of a transfer tug of war in August that saw him have a medical at Huddersfield Town, before heading to Swansea but the Welsh club failed to get the deal done before the deadline. The defender is best known as a full-back, right-sided but he can also play centre-back. The problems at Leeds United are rooted deep this season, there isn’t one position that doesn’t need work and Andrea Radrizzani has his work cut out. Journalist Alan Nixon is suggesting Leeds are also keen on Swansea striker, and now Scotland international Oliver McBurnie who is a talented footballer, and it seems we are now setting our sights on the squad improvements.
Phil Hay confirmed Alan Nixon’s story today by saying Heckingbottom is pushing for a deal that Leeds could do on a free for Yiadom, although the competition will be stiff, Yiadom, along with McBurnie the best players at Barnsley despite their struggles. In all honesty I would take a gamble over Matthew Pennington at the moment, and Liam Cooper is definitely not the answer. I would have a cull of the defence this summer, Vurnon Anita, Liam Cooper, Matthew Pennington and Laurens De Bock can all go for me. I would consider playing Luke Ayling at centre back just for some personality (next season) and leadership, and keep Pearce at left-back until the end of the season and see how he goes.
