To be honest there is little but pride to play for. The Leeds fans are travelling in numbers yet again tomorrow and that should be enough motivation for the players, although it doesn’t seem to be at the moment. The season needs to end, we need to regroup and go again because we’ve sunk like a brick since we hit top spot in the early stage of the season.
GK – Baily Peacock-Farrell – One of the best players of the season and he’s only been playing for a couple of months, that shows you where we’re at.
RB – Vurnon Anita – I just can’t put Stuart Dallas in for this one, he was horribly exposed at the weekend and he wasted cross after cross with nom pressure on him. LUFCData posted some stats on Twitter earlier, and it’s very grim for Dallas this season.
CB – Pontus Jansson – Will have to step up tomorrow again because I can only see Pearce and O’Connor playing in the defence with the injuries and now suspensions. Heckingbottom has no choice.
CB – Paudie O’Connor – Potentially playing alongside Tom Pearce, who between them have one full game of first-team experience at Leeds United. O’Connor is different, having played over 50 times in the League Of Ireland Premier League.
LB – Tom Pearce – The full-back will have to play for me, I wouldn’t play Dallas but potentially Anita will slot in just to add the experience. We’ve nothing to lose and it’s a good chance to play Pearce. If Anita and Dallas do start I would play Jack Clarke instead of Alioksi.
CM – Kalvin Phillips – I thought Phillips played well on Saturday and at Fulham so no issues with him starting. Him and Vieira against Browne and Pearson is sure to be tasty, without doubt the most aggressive and combative midfield in the division.
CM – Ronaldo Vieira – Three games, three very good games. He’s back to what we know and hopefully he can maintain it until the end of the season. Has been throwing his weight about in the middle of the park and we need that tomorrow in abundance.
RW – Gjanni Alioksi – This is the sort of game he can be bullied out of and he needs to establish himself early. As I mentioned before, if Pearce doesn’t play, Jack Clarke does for me.
CAM – Samu Saiz – Need him to hold the ball for us but release it when it’s right, not when he feels like he’s ready to. Played better on Saturday but he’s better than what he’s showing.
LW – Pablo Hernandez – (c) – I’ll say it now, the Player of the Year for me, and if you are a regular reader you will know how unlikely that was at the start of the season. Fair play.
ST – Caleb Ekuban – Offers more than Lasogga, that’s as deep as I’ll go.
