Leeds Under 23’s travel to Villa park tomorrow for, what looks to be a very tough encounter with Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa. I say the under 23’s because it might as well be, one because of injuries and two because they actually look better than the senior players, well they have some passion anyway.

My XI

GK – Baily Peacock-Farrell – Almost a senior member of the squad now…

RB – Stuart Dallas – Better than Vurnon Anita but really not the answer. Anita didn’t need to make that foul on Tuesday and ultimately that swung the game in Preston’s favour.

CB – Paudie O’Connor – I actually think this is the worst and best possible way for a player to break into a side. He’s been thrown into one of the most negative situations at Leeds for some time yet long-term that will make him better for it, and he’s the senior player of the back two tomorrow…

CB – Hugo Diaz – Made more tackles in the little time he was on the park than Pontus Jansson had made until that point. We don’t know much about Diaz, a Spanish defender who is good on the ball is about all we know. Very important we don’t put pressure on these lads coming in.

LB – Tom Pearce – We should just play him, Anita has to be going in the summer so what’s the point in playing him now I guess. Give Pearce some more first-team action.

CM – Ronaldo Vieira – Has been back playing near to his best and it’s helped but it hasn’t solved the problem. My next pick in central midfield may help him gain control of the game at times.

CM – Pablo Hernandez – We don’t have enough of the ball and the only player of retaining it for a decent amount of time seems to be Pablo Hernandez, one of the only players out of contract next month as well…Play him deeper and try to get a grip of the game.

RW – Gjanni Alioksi – We need the more experienced players to step up and that includes Alioski. Wee need outlets tomorrow and he can provide that.

CAM – Samu Saiz – If ever there was a game where we need the early season Samu Saiz back then this is it.

LW – Kemar Roofe – Back with a bang before we crumbled on Tuesday night and hopefully that gives him the confidence to kick on for the last few games.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga – Up against John Terry and James Chester tomorrow and he needs to raise his game. Ekuban would provide more pace but we need someone to hold onto the ball and Lasogga can do that when he feels like it.

About Author

Born in Gibraltar, raised in Scotland from a very young age. Been a huge fan of Leeds United since I could walk and talk, thanks to my Dad, the English half of me. After a few years in Australia I moved to Leeds, the trips from Scotland down to the city a few times a season didn't cut it. Love the city. Love the people, and the 12 hour round trip to Elland Road is about a 20 minute round trip. Love writing about the club, the more I write the more I feel comfortable doing it. As long as it's enjoyable I'll continue to do so, keep looking to step it up and progress as well. Leeds United is more than just a football team for me, as is it with so many others.
