Pontus Jansson has apologised for the season but also left with a parting message that all Leeds fans will be glad to hear, “see you next year”. The future of Pontus Jansson has and probably always will be in question, that’s the nature of the beast that is your best players and the transfer windows but Jansson seems intent to right the wrongs of this season, hopefully with his old partner back.
The likes of Pontus Jansson and Samu Saiz, Pablo Hernandez another good example will all be, or will have been in discussions with the club over their plans for the summer and going forward. In fact Jansson told Swedish press that he was going to do exactly that before thinking about net season and it seems like the club are selling their plan to the players. First Pablo Hernandez signed a new two-year-deal which will probably take him through until the end of his career and that speaks volumes for what he thinks can happen in the next couple of years. Jansson’s message yesterday was good news and he said all the right things, a certain someone returning would probably mean he would return to his former self, assured and confident, something we haven’t seen much of this season.
“Last months of this season has been everything else that I want as a footballer for Leeds United. Go out every week and feel that another season just thrown away. Of course it’s disappointed for everyone involved and a lot of people have to see their thing in the failure but at the end it’s about us 11 that are on the pitch every week. So sorry for those months. Now there is only one way and I know it have been a wakeup for a lot of people so next year its all about it. Thanks for the support even if we didn’t deserved it every week and see you next year.”
It’s not easy to read but that’s obviously to be expected with Jansson not having English as his first language but it’s easy to get the picture. Sorry, know it’s been bad but I’ll be back next year, better. If we can give him a half decent partner it will make a huge difference. Liam Cooper, Matthew Pennington, two players that simply aren’t good enough going forward. Maybe one of them could be a back-up but that’s at best. the fact we are making Kyle Bartley the number one target this summer tells you we know how badly we need him back. Will it make a big difference? Yes, yes it will.
