The ball is now firmly in the court of Andrea Radrizzani in regards to the potential signing of Swansea City centre-back Kyle Bartley. The defender has told Swansea he wants to leave and the club will sell at the right price, most importantly Leeds are his first choice.
Leeds have made Bartley priority number one this summer and the reasons are obvious. Since he returned to Swansea the Leeds United defence has collapsed barring a good start to the season. Bartley is seen by the club as a marquee signing and they now have the chance to take the player who is keen for a move. Phil Hay has been tracking the story for weeks now and today revealed the news we all wanted to hear, Bartley wants out, he wants to Leeds, Swansea will sell which only leaves Leeds United coughing up.
Rumours are that Bartley would cost around £6 million but I think it would be closer to £4.5 million given Swansea wanted the six last summer before relegation and a long-term injury caused him to miss most of the season. The fact he’s struggling with injury again currently would probably work in our favour and to be honest we know what we’re getting with Bartley so it shouldn’t concern us too much. There is a captain, a quality player and someone who wants to be here.
