I think the tweet from the clubs official twitter account after the third goal summed up how Leeds fans across the city and world for that matter were feeling. It went a little something like “hgdbgdbdfsbsgsmchnf”. I can honestly say I’ve never been in Elland Road for a couple of minutes like that, it was just incredible.
Baily Peacock-Farrell – 5 – He’s a lucky boy tonight and will want to give a big thanks to Kemar Roofe. Pontus Jansson reacted how the fans were feeling, lashing the ball into the net and screamed at his keeper. In that moment passion boiled over but this is real, every goal for and against is crucial and that was very poor. He’ll bounce back but he needs to sort his positioning from free-kicks. Distribution also poor today.
Luke Ayling – 6 – Daft to slide in like that and give the penalty away but apart from that had a steady game. Blackburn didn’t look like scoring from open play.
Pontus Jansson – 8 – Had a very good game. As I said above Blackburn barely got into our half during the game. A penalty and free-kick all they had and that’s playing with two strikers. He’s leading us at the moment, through performances and passion.
Kalvin Phillips – 8 – Like Jansson was solid today. Dealt with Bradley Dack and Danny Graham with his partner and looked comfortable throughout. I can’t remember seeing two strikers get outplayed by two Leeds centre-backs like that for some time.
Barry Douglas – 7 – Solid today, looked a bit more of a threat going forward which was good to see. Nobody really had a bad game outfield, the link-up with Jack Harrison was also impressive today.
Adam Forshaw – 7 – Was having a very good game until he gave the handball away leading to the penalty for the first goal. Gave the ball away a couple of times after that but got back into things. Controlled the game today, in the main a decent days work.
Mateusz Klich – 6 – struggled to make an impact today and maybe needs a rest. The issue is finding someone to replace him. The work rate is still very much there, but just lacking that killer pass or striker he had a couple of months ago.
Gjanni Alioski – 7 – Looked decent today, did lack the final ball a few times but compare that to a few weeks ago it’s a big difference. Looks so much better on the right, and looks a threat. Almost got a goal and agonisingly close to an assist in the second half.
Pablo Hernandez – 8 – The first-half from Hernandez was awful, passes going all over the shop, losing the ball and looking lost. One thing he does is continue to get on the ball and he pops up with moments of quality. The cross for the winner, at that stage of the game and with so much riding on it was just out of this world. All it takes.
Jack Harrison – 7 – The best Harrison has played for some time. Direct and a constant option down the left. Slightly unlucky to be taken off after a good first-half. Did well for the first goal.
Kemar Roofe – 10 – T72MOM – I think I’ve handed out about four or five 10’s in my ratings in the last three years. Moments in football are what makes and breaks a striker and he had two in stoppage time today. Incredible end to the game.
Jack Clarke – 6 – Didn’t have the impact of previous games but did create chances and get at Blackburn.
Jamie Shackleton – 6 – Wasn’t on long, got on the ball when he could and looked to get forward.
