Leeds United are riding the crest of a wave at the moment as they surf along at the top of the Sky bet Championship.

Under Marcelo Bielsa, the Whites are a different proposition than last season’s underperformers who shuffled lamely to a mediocre 13th placing in the league table.

Regalvanised, Bielsa has not only turned around the fortunes of the juggernaught that is Leeds United, but he’s done it with last season’s squad augmented with a sprinkling of choice youngsters.

It is one of those youngsters, Jack Clarke, who sparkled and shone on Friday night as the Whites cut Derby County to pieces. Forget excuses relating to SpyGate, this was a Derby County side that were mullered from minute 1 to minute 90.

Success, though, comes at a price and that price is often willing to be paid by sides in the Premier League that are backed by Sky Sports’ big money payments.

Players, such as Clarke, who are performing well are often the ones who are singled out for the attention of the top-tier sides. Indeed, both Clarke and striker Kemar Roofe are said to have been interesting Premier League sides over recent weeks.

However, respected Leeds United reporter Phil Hay, of the Yorkshire Evening Post, said something in one of his articles today that may still some beating hearts.

Writing about the emergence of Jack Clarke after his scintillating start against the Rams, Hay reassured Leeds fans that no changes were envisaged. Speaking on this he said: “Sources at Elland Road, though, are categorical in saying that no active member of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad will be sold in the January window.”

Of all the words in that sentence written by Hay, the most reassuring has to be “categorical”. It is that sense of finality that Whites fans will have been wanting to hear as they look forward to what they hope will continue to be a successful end to an already successful season.
