It seemed done and dusted did the Michael Cuisance deal. But ‘done and dusted’ at Elland Road is anything but that when it comes to the mire that represents the transfer market. In short – it’s another deal gone for a Burton.
In some ways, and in many others too, Cuisance falling through has far too many shades of Dan James linked to it. However, the Dan James deal fell through due to the pettiness of Huw Jenkins; the then-Swansea chairman simply refusing to pick up the phone to sign off on the deal with Leeds United.
According to Mirror reporter David Anderson’s tweet (below), the Cuisance failure is much more a simple footballing reason than one man’s petulance:
Michael Cuisance’s £18m move to Leeds from Bayern Munich has dramatically fallen through at the 11th hour because it is understood he has failed his medical. Cuisance was in Leeds being tested and is now flying back. #lufc

That’s it; a failed medical or so it seems. That last series of checks representing the final hurdle that the French starlet couldn’t climb over in an attempt to seal a deal from Bayern Munich – the current Champions League holders.
Long gone are the Izzy Brown days when Leeds United were willing to take on the walking wounded in the hope that they would rise Lazarus-like and have some sort of effect. That maverick nature has simply disappeared as a more professional attitude has taken over at Elland Road.
Cuisance failing his medical, even though that is under contention, means that the Whites have passed onto other targets.
